Buenas tardes a todos. Me llamo Mario y soy activista. Mi camino de libertad empezó con mis abuelos que cruzaron la frontera legalmente con mis papás.
Cuando mis padres nos mudaron a la ciudad de Palmdale, no teníamos el mall. El valle era mayoritariamente desierto y el único semáforo que yo recuerdo era el de la Sierra Highway. Antes el Wol Mar estaba en el edificio de Burlington y jugábamos todo el verano en el desierto. Esos días han pasado pero el corazón de la gente sigue siendo el mismo. La gente viene a nuestro valle por mil razones, tal vez es el clima, tal vez el trabajo, cualquier razón, todos sentimos que este pueblo es nuestra casa.
Hoy, nuestra casa está en peligro con el embargo de nuestra libertad. No podemos ver la cara de nuestros queridos, familiares o extranjeros. Suicida ha aumentado, la gente está triste, y personas se violan el uno al otro pensando que es justicia. ¿Qué pasa con nuestra comunidad?
Empecé mi trabajo con el Palmdale Freedom Coalition en Septiembre. Los meses más oscuros del año fueron los meses más brillosos para mi. Encontré gente dedicada a luchar por nuestros derechos. Encontré gente que se exige cuando hay una protesta. Encontré gente que extraño porque las memorias hechas en estos meses nos apoyan cuando nos sentimos solos.
Cada semana nos juntamos en un negocio independiente que también nos apoya. Por ser desafiante el departamento de salud ha tratado de darle una multa al negocio, Butler ‘s Coffee. Pero, la gente abarrotaron el comedor y nunca llegó ningún representante. Esta es la fuerza de gente unida.
En Francia, Australia, Alemania, e Inglaterra gente desobediente queman sus pasaportes de salud en solidaridad con gente sin la vacuna requerida. Cuando el gobierno pasó un toque de queda, miles de gente salieron a la calle porque nos imponen reglas que ellos mismos no siguen. La gente le hace burlas a los representantes que nos castigan por no ser vacunados, cubiertos o separados. ¿Por qué te vemos en Miami bailando Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez? Vimos tu parti en Martha ‘s Vineyard Señor Obama, y con todos los actores de Hollywood, que grosero. Como nos va a desanimar comidas, amigos, y nuestra familia, mientras los legisladores viven sus vidas sin preocupo.
El público ya se enfado! Toda esta gente que ves está activa. No queremos presentar información médico, y privada a todos los que piden. En estos días compartimos mucho. Compartimos nuestras vacaciones, lo que comemos, y hasta los primeros momentos de nuestros hijos, pero no tienes derecho a obtener, revisar, ni pedir información de mi salud.
Con la fuerza de nuestro fletamento, queremos que la ciudad de Palmdale nos proteja la privacidad. Queremos que nos proteja nuestro trabajo, nuestra autonomía corporal. Sabemos que la enfermedad de covid es verdad, pero la respuesta a la pandemia parece un hipocondríaco. Solo un tratamiento para todos no es solución, es muerte segura para unos, le hace daño a otros. Nuestra ordenanza pone la fuerza de decisiones médicas donde deben estar, en tus manos junto con tu información biológica. Por eso nos congregamos hoy, para que nos oigan nuestros funcionarios electos. Por favor, pongansen en fila para decirle a nuestro concejo municipal que pasen la ordenanza 1577, gracias.

Good Evening everyone. My name is Mario and I’m an activist. My road to freedom started with my grandparents who legally crossed the border with my parents.
When my parents moved us to the city of Palmdale, we didn’t have a mall. The valley was mostly desert and the only stoplight that I can recall was on Sierra Highway. The Walmart was in the building that is now Burlington and we played in the desert all summer long. Those days have passed, but the heart of the people stays the same. People come to our valley for thousands of reasons, maybe it’s the weather, maybe it’s work, whatever the reason, we all feel this town is our home.
Today, our home is in danger because of an embargo on our freedom. We can’t see the faces of our loved ones, families, or strangers. Suicide has skyrocketed, the people are sad, and people hurt one another in the name of justice. What is happening to our community?
I started my work with the Palmdale Freedom Coalition in September. The darkest months of the year were the brightest months for me. I found people dedicated to fighting for our rights. I found people who get excited when there’s a protest. I found people who I miss because the memories we’ve made these months support us when we feel alone.
Every week, we gather at an independent business that also supports us. For their defiance the Health Department has attempted to fine the business; Butlers Coffee. But, the people packed the dining room and a representative from the Health Department never showed. This is the power of people united.
In France, Australia, Germany, and England disobedient people are burning their health passports in solidarity with people who refuse the required vaccine. When the government imposed a curfew, thousands of people took to the streets because those imposing the rules don’t follow it themselves. The people make fun of our representatives who chastise us for not being vaccinated, covered, or distanced. How come we saw you dancing in Miami Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez? We saw your party in Martha’s Vineyard Mr. Obama, and with all the Hollywood actors too, how rude. How are you going to discourage dinners, friends, and our family, meanwhile legislators live their lives without a care.
The public is over it! All these people you see are activated. We don’t want to present private medical information to all those who ask. These days, we already share too much. We share our vacations, our meals, and even our child’s first moments, but you do not have the right to obtain, review, or ask for my health information.
With the power of our charter, we want the city of Palmdale to protect our privacy. We want you to protect our jobs and our bodily autonomy. We know that covid is a real disease, but the response to the pandemic is like a hypochondriac. The ordinance puts the power of medical decisions where they belong, in our hands along with our biological information. This is why we gather today, so that our elected officials can hear us. Please get in line to tell our city council to pass Ordinance 1577, thank you.
