Webslinging sneak peek

I was recently, unexpectedly, invited to a private screening of the new Spider-Man Movie with a friend. It was a “what are you plans tomorrow?” kinda situation that was impossible to pass up. So, we made the trek to the San Fernando Valley for our sneak preview of the latest comic book themed adventure.

I’m a fan of most movies, even the crap ones, so of course I enjoyed myself. What I found interesting about this newest incarnation of the wall crawler was that this tale takes you on a true emotional roller coaster. Peter is slightly less mature and his “white lies” make for some hysterical interactions with Aunt May & Gwen. He battles inner demons and echoes from his first adventure while protecting those whom he cares for. To speak in chemistry terms, all the right compounds are present and it makes for a fun reaction.

The audience laughed continuously and fell silent at the loss of a friend. I shed tears as the music changed tone while we said goodbye to Peter’s ally, and I even caught my partner welling up with emotion. Graphically and visually the movie was made to entertain, I honestly felt that I was flying over New York on a synthetic web with Spider-Man in some scenes. This movie was obviously produced with a third dimension in mind because in some of the scenes, you almost feel Electro’s current coursing through your seat. While we weren’t treated to the annoying eyewear or third dimension it made the scenes no less fantastic. Watch out Spidey!!

Spidey’s most recent high flying was a thoroughly entertaining adventure but it was apparent that the director intended to make it an all ages fantasy. Some of the story movement seemed very comic based, which one would expect in a comic book movie, however those not versed in comic flow may find this flow frustrating. My only complaint about the entire excursion is the lack of a sneak preview of the next Marvel adventure. Don’t bother waiting for a preview following the credits, we did, and the theater erupted in boos. Enjoy the movie and don’t forget the popcorn.
