Sometimes you need to escape the city, go for a drive and clear the cobwebs from your sense of adventure.
I have made a habit of doing this annually in celebration of my entrance into this world (my birthday).
Together with a group of friends and our families we venture someplace unfamiliar for a weekend getaway. We’ve been to Sawmill north of Santa Clarita, the Giant Sequoias in King’s Canyon, Angeles National Forest, and this weekend the Kern River near Kernville, CA.
By far, being near a body of water was the best experience ever. I look to repeat this next year at the beach, but enough about the landscape, I go for the company.
Hiking among giants, overlooking the entirety of the Antelope Valley, or braving rapids riddled with intertubers at the mercy of the current is nothing without sharing it.
Making smores, day drinking, or campfire breakfasts mean very little without comradery; even Peter Pan had lost boys to adventure with.
Every camping adventure has a memory and I look forward to sharing more of them with my merry men (& women).
Thank you everyone for the amazing birthdays.
This is all to true and some of the best natural medicine is good friends, times, laughs, and love. <3
